Abstract: In the fall of 2002, the Ministry of Water, Land and Air Protection, Environmental Stewardship Division commissioned McCrory Wildlife Services to conduct a Black Bear Habitat and Hazard Assessment of the Diamond Head Area of Garibaldi Provincial Park (The Bear Study). A report on the bear study was received in December 2002, with recommendations for the mitigation of hazard to the public and improved protection for bears. In response to the bear study, this action plan has been developed by Vicki Haberl with input from Chris Platz, Area Supervisor for Garibaldi Park. The action plan provides responses to the bear study recommendations with timeframes for implementation. The approved action plan will be implemented as financial and human resources permit, and according to their overall priority within the regional work plan.
