Many communities in BC face the issue of road dust generated from winter
traction materials (i.e., sand, aggregate, and associated de-icing compounds)
applied during the snow and ice season. Fine fraction particulates contained
within accumulated winter traction materials can be entrained and suspended
by vehicular traffic, contributing to reduced air quality.
