In British Columbia, there has been little systematic inventory of a number of groups of organisms of ecological importance but no direct economic value. The group considered in this project was the freshwater crustacean zooplankton (Copepoda and Cladocera, including Mysids). This project involved compiling a list of all species from B.C. that were reported in various forms of literature and unpublished data from universities and government agencies. Information was compiled in a database and listed by species (or genus), location (lake or water body), and reference source. The primary goal was to use these data to construct a key to freshwater zooplankton of British Columbia. This will allow these organism to be properly identified during ecological investigations or biodiversity evaluations.
