In this discussion paper we have set out a draft plan of action for protecting drinking water in BC. We have outlined the need for a ?multi-barrier? approach that will use a combination of measures to ensure water sources are properly managed and waterworks systems provide drinking water. The proposed measures include comprehensive assessments of water sources and waterworks systems, new drinking water planning procedures, more effective local influence and authority, enforceable standards, better access to information and public education programs.
