Receiving environment surveys were carried out near four metal finishing plants on the Lower Fraser River, to determine whether metals concentrations in the river were being elevated to levels of concern. Two of the sites are located on the Fraser River North Arm, while the remaining two sites are on the South Arm. Water column, test fish, sediment, and sediment extract metals levels were measured. As well, bioassays were carried out on the sediments and sediment extracts, respectively.
