Environmental maintenance projects: Watching Creek Road deactivation project: project completion abstract

Abstract
The deactivated road section was identified through two previous reports. Firstly by Summit Environmental Consultants, March 2002, 'Reconnaissance Watershed Assessment of Tranquille River Watershed'. The second report was completed by Landmark Forest Management Ltd. in 2001, 'Tranquille Creek Restoration Plan'. This road was previously deactivated to keep vehicles out; however, it was not deactivated with environmental considerations in mind. The primary concern was associated with two stream crossings, one concerning a 900 mm CMP and another concerning a collapsing wooden culvert. These two crossings were over class 3 streams (see map insert). The environmental hazards at both crossings were evaluated as a high risk to fish habitat and domestic water users within the Tranquille Creek Community Watershed.
