Abstract |
Streams at both sites are non-fish bearing due high gradients and waterfalls. However, both drain to the San Juan River approx 450 meters distant. This river is a highly productive (S-1) drainage and gives access to other S-1 drainages, ( i.e. Harris, Lens creeks). Both sites have a high potential for introduction of sediment and debris into the San Juan River. Continued vehicular access would increase the chance of structural failure, potentially leading to mass wasting as well as personal injury. Funding from the Forest Investment Account (FIA), administered through BC Timber Sales, was provided to remove and stabilize these sites. David Calder & Noel Phillips of BRAT Expediting provided environmental and construction monitoring for works conducted by Dane Contracting Ltd. in September 2009. | ||||||
