Medium-term trends at the scale of the province suggest a strong decline over the last four decades (BBS 1973-2009: -3.2%/yr [-5.6,-0.8]), similar in magnitude to the decline occurring across Canada (-2.2%/yr [-3.4,-0.9]), but more recent trends are much less certain, and may even support some stability or increase in numbers in some areas.## (Anna Calvert; March 2011) |
