Provincial Status Summary
Status: S5?
Date Status Assigned: April 30, 2015
Date Last Reviewed: March 14, 2025
Reasons: This species is found in broad habitat types throughout the province; however there are few records,

Range
Range Extent: G = 200,000-2,500,000 square km
Range Extent Comments: Throughout BC including Vancouver Island (Clarke 1981; Ovaska and Sopuck 2002).

Occurrences & Population
Number of Occurrences: CE = 21 to >300
Comments: The 30 distinct sites where it has been found gives the minima for the range of occurrences. The upper limit is uncertain but Lee (2000c) suggested it was uncommon, having been found at only 9/176 sites in northern BC, an area completely covered by Clarke's (1981) range map (Lepitzki 2014).
Number of Occurrences with Good Viability / Ecological Integrity: Rank Factor not assessed
Number of Occurrences Appropriately Protected & Managed: Rank Factor not assessed
Population Size: Rank Factor not assessed

Threats (to population, occurrences, or area affected)
Degree of Threat: D = Low
Comments: Likely low threats, as this species occurs over a broad range in BC in lakes, ponds, streams and vernal pools and ditches (Clarke 1981).

Trend (in population, range, area occupied, and/or condition of occurrences)
Short-Term Trend: Rank Factor not assessed
