Provincial Status Summary
Status: SU
Date Status Assigned: April 30, 2024
Date Last Reviewed: April 30, 2024
Reasons: There are currently 12 known occurrences of Lupinus sulphureus in British Columbia, 8 of which are considered extant. Range
Range Extent: D = 1,000-5,000 square km
Range Extent Comments: The range extent for Lupinus sulphureus, calculated using a convex hull, is 2,075 square kilometres; from Osoyoos north to Trapp Lake (south of Kamloops).
Area of Occupancy (km2): D = 6-25
Area of Occupancy Comments: The area of occupancy, using a 2km x 2km grid cell for extant occurrences, is 32 square kilometres.

Occurrences & Population
Number of Occurrences: BC = 6 - 80
Comments: There are currently 12 known occurrences of Lupinus sulphureus in British Columbia, 8 of which are considered extant.
Number of Occurrences with Good Viability / Ecological Integrity: CD = 4 - 40
Comments: Information on viability is lacking for most occurrences, but plants were reported as common for the Olalla and Yellow Lake occurrences.
Number of Occurrences Appropriately Protected & Managed: U = Unknown
Population Size: U = Unknown

Threats (to population, occurrences, or area affected)
Degree of Threat: U = Unknown
Comments: Threats have not been identified for reported populations, but the South Okanagan is a fast growing region in the province and natural areas are under pressure from agricultural and residential development.

Short-Term Trend: U = Unknown
Long-Term Trend: U = Unknown

Other Factors
