| Scientific Name: | Ericameria bloomeri |
|---|---|
| English Name: | rabbitbrush goldenweed |
| Provincial Status Summary | |
| Status: | S2S3 |
| Date Status Assigned: | April 30, 2019 |
| Date Last Reviewed: | April 30, 2019 |
| Reasons: |
There are currently 4 known occurrences of Ericameria bloomeri in British Columbia, 3 of which are considered extant. The range extent is 64 square kilometres and the area of occupancy is 12 square kilometres. No discernible threats have been noted by the observers and the remoteness of the locations bound by private ranch land and the US border offers some measure of protection. |
| Range | |
| Range Extent: | AB = <100-250 square km |
| Range Extent Comments: |
The range extent for Ericameria bloomeri, calculated using a convex hull, is 64 square kilometres; from the US border just west of Midway, north to Westbridge (historical). |
| Area of Occupancy (km2): | CD = 3-25 |
| Area of Occupancy Comments: |
The area of occupancy, using a 2km x 2km grid cell for extant occurrences, is 12 square kilometres. |
| Occurrences & Population | |
| Number of Occurrences: | AB = 1 - 20 |
| Comments: |
There are currently 4 known occurrences of Ericameria bloomeri, in British Columbia, 3 of which are considered extant. |
| Number of Occurrences with Good Viability / Ecological Integrity: | B = 1 - 3 |
| Percent Area with Good Viability / Ecological Integrity: | F = Excellent (>40%) |
| Comments: |
Three occurrences are reported to have good to excellent viability. |
| Number of Occurrences Appropriately Protected & Managed: | A = None |
| Population Size: | U = Unknown |
| Comments: |
Detailed counts from the known occurrences are incomplete, however the Cedro Hill location contains 62 plants in two subpopulations. Another summit in the area is reported to have 99 individuals. |
| Threats (to population, occurrences, or area affected) | |
| Degree of Threat: | U = Unknown |
| Comments: | This species does not appear to be highly threatened at the three extant locations, far from development, and apparently not overly disturbed by range activities. |
| Trend (in population, range, area occupied, and/or condition of occurrences) | |
| Short-Term Trend: | U = Unknown |
| Comments: |
British Columbia populations have not been monitored; there is no data available from which population trends can be determined. |
| Long-Term Trend: | U = Unknown |
| Comments: |
Vague location description (east of West Bridge) on the historic collection and private ranch land would make it difficult to relocate this occurrence should it still persist. |
