| Scientific Name: | Promenetus exacuous |
|---|---|
| English Name: | Sharp Sprite |
| Provincial Status Summary | |
| Status: | S5? |
| Date Status Assigned: | April 30, 2015 |
| Date Last Reviewed: | October 24, 2024 |
| Reasons: | This species is found over a large area of the province and uses broad habitat types. |
| Range | |
| Range Extent: | G = 200,000-2,500,000 square km |
| Range Extent Estimate (km2): | 539,000 |
| Range Extent Comments: | From Lepitzki (2014): "While Clarke's (1981) range map only includes the SE and NE corners of BC, the records in CMN [Canadian Museum of Nature] extend as far southwestward as Osoyoos and northwestward as ~100 km east of Hazelton. Other records extend the species' distribution to cover most of the province with an EO [Extent of Occurrence] (using MapSource) of ~ 539,000 km. sq." |
| Occurrences & Population | |
| Number of Occurrences: | DE = 81 to >300 |
| Comments: | From Lepitzki (2014): There are 41 records (7 in Canadian Museum of Nature from 1961, 1969, 1972, 1973; 17 in Royal BC Museum (RBCM) from 1913-2004; 17 by Forsyth from 1994-1997) in collection databases (Lee and Ackerman 1998; Lepitzki 2013), not necessarily including any of the 35 sites where it was found by Lee (2000a,c) in northern BC. One specimen in the RBCM from 1913 suggests this Vancouver Island record is a westward expansion of the range. Lee (2000c) suggested it was a common mollusc in northern BC. |
