Global Habitat Comments: Rocky ridges, scree, slopes, and cobble beaches (Troubridge and Wood 1990, Opler 1999, Shephard et al. 1998). May prefer certain types of rock at least in some parts of the range.

Global Food Habits Comments: Caterpillar food plant may be Dryas species (Troubridge and Wood 1990; Shepard et al. 1998; Layberry et al. 1998). Adults nectar at various flowers including Saxifraga species and Phlox sibirica (Shepard et al. 1998).

Global Phenology Comments: Adults fly from mid-June into July (Troubridge and Wood, 1990; Layberry et al., 1998, Shepard et al, 1998), and may require two years for completion of the life cycle.

Endemic: N
Global Range Comment: This Beringian relict species is known from widely scattered localities in northern Canada and eastern Alaska, USA. Occurs in British Columbia, Nunavut, Yukon, and Northwest Territories, including Victoria Island (Troubridge and Wood 1995; Layberry et al. 1998; Shepard et al in Emmel1998; Opler 1999). Also reported from Slana, Alaska (undated University of Alaska Museum record).
