Global Range Comment: This taxon is widespread and circumboreal in subarctic and subalpine biomes (POWO 2024). Specifically, it occurs in northern North America from Alaska, United States and British Columbia across northern Canada to Newfoundland and Labrador, and has disjunct populations in Colorado and California (FNA 2005). This taxon also occurs in Europe and Asia. Range extent was estimated to be over 57 million square kilometers using herbarium specimens, photo-based observations, and NatureServe Network occurrence data collected between 1993 and 2024 (GBIF 2024, iNaturalist 2024, NatureServe 2024, SEINet 2024).
