ECL sampled Phantom Lake (900-178900; 000216JERV) in the headwaters of the Clowhom drainage (900-178900) above Salmon Inlet to determine fish presence and infer abundance through standard capture methods throughout the lake and surrounding stream habitats.

The fisheries data have been collected as a baseline inventory for the aquatic ecosystems of the uppermost Clowhom River. The results are a standard and necessary component of a Development Plan to obtain both a water license and Crown Land tenure lease of occupation among other permits involved in the diversion of water for hydroelectric purposes. ECL conducted fish sampling in Phantom Lake and stream reaches directly above and below the lake, as well as in the Clowhom River below Phantom Falls, a known fish barrier. All sampling took place above the headpond of the existing Upper Clowhom River Hydropower Project operated by Hydromax Energy Ltd., a subsidiary of Enmax Corporation and owned by the City of Calgary.
